Hair Update & New Product Review

I haven't done a hair update in a minute and it's growing like wildfire.
Still don't plan on cutting it, but I would love a color. The only thing is that I'm afraid the dryness will break it again and I wouldn't want that.

My next Protective Style: Kinky Twists
I don't know when, or even where I will get it done, but it's on the to do list. Sticking to my 2012 goal of protective styling. In the meantime, I'm seeking new ways to style my hair. If you don't know by now, I get bored EASILY with my hair. I gotta switch it up...head wraps, turbans or whatever. I need options and versatility!

In the style above, I did a side part, pulled back, and clipped a large chunk of it with a flat clip. Then I flat twisted the front, going down the side, close to the hair line, starting from the part. At the end of the flat twist, I secured it with a bobby pin. And I let the rest fly!

Product I used: Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream
The Verdict: LOVE IT!
Price: $5.99 (or something like that) @ Walmart
Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream
How I Use It:
I wet my hair in the shower, blot it with a towel to get out excess water. Then I apply it throughout my hair.
The only thing is that it leaves behind a white residue, at first, eventually it disappears. But I noticed a little goes a long way. You don't have to use a lot...I'm kinda heavy handed with product though :-P
It defines my curls and I can feel the moisture in my hair at the end of the day and it's soft with a little hold.
I like to add coconut oil for added moisture, especially if I'm going to wear a head wrap for the day.

Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream gets my STAMP OF APPROVAL! :-)

  1. Cute style! First time hearing of the coconut curling cream. I've tried the shea butter moisturizing cream/leave in conditioner by Cantu and I'm not a fan. It left a white residue even after it dried {and I used the product more than once, same situation}. Maybe I applied too much {I'm heavy handed on the products too-lol!}

I'm so in protective style mode this summer. My go-to style lately has been my lil' afro puff. I'm getting bored with that so I'm thinking box braids. Who knows...

    Stay beautiful! *Smooches*

    1. Thanks for the comment! I had box braids in February and loved it! My wash-n-go getting old so I totally understand being bored.

  2. I'm contemplating color as well...but I'm scuuurrred, lol! Highlights might be safer...less hair to possibly damage. Either way, your hair looks great! I'm definitely going to have to try the curling cream. I have tried the leave in conditioner, and I didn't like it. Hopefully I will have better luck with the curling cream!

  3. First thing I noticed on your car pics were your lips. What color is that? It's pretty. Ok back to the hair. LOL! It looks gorgeous. It's so full & healthy. Don't be afraid of color. I haven't had a perm since '04. I've had several colors without problems. Because you don't gave a perm, your hair will be able to handle it a lot easier since it's in a stronger state. Like anything, its all in how you take care of it. I too get bored with the puff so I'll get sew ins or wigs.

  4. Thanks LeRenda. If I can remember, it is Please Me w/ Boy Bait on top by MAC...I think lol. I've been natural since 2004 too! Not afraid of color, just a little hesitant because the last experience with color wasn't great. I'm not saying no color ever again...I can't stay black haired forever!
